Ahh, my car's sister in wagon form (and 4 years younger (newer)).
400 is a cool motor though! who needs gas mileage plenty of room for gas cans...

the old extend-o-range. I had a 68 Bronco with a bunk fuel tank once, I used to just load it up with marine cans and ride out

It'd do better than 8. We had a 72 LTD with the 400 from late 1971 until 1981. It'd get about 18 or so on the highway.

I drove around in a 74 Ranchero GT with a 400 4bbl and that thing got MAYBE 11 if you kept your foot out of it. What a hoot that thing was

Ranchero was probably geared a bit lower than the LTD. I learned to drive in that LTD. Good HS memories in it, as well. I laugh at kids today who complain about taking a driving test in an Accord. Try parallel parking a 19 ft long LTD and then come talk to me! ;-)

My grandad has a country squire that I have always loved for probably no other reason than it is his; well that and it has a 429 in it.
